Patient Safety Series: Building Capacity for Advocacy with a Simulation Program

Despite increased awareness and education around bias and discrimination, many healthcare professionals still feel ill-equipped to respond effectively when they witness or experience bias in the workplace. LifeBridge Health (LBH) recognized that traditional training was not enough. In response, the Clinical Excellence Team partnered with the Office of Health Advocacy and Fairness to launch an innovative solution: the Building Capacity for Advocacy Simulation Program.

This 1-hour webinar explores how LBH developed and implemented simulation-based training to build allyship skills and empower staff to interrupt bias in real time, a project that was recognized with a Circle of Honor Award. Drawing on evidence from the literature and lessons from clinical education, the program provides immersive, hands-on learning opportunities that move beyond awareness into confident action. Attendees will learn how simulation scenarios were designed, how the program was integrated into clinical operations, and what measurable impact it has had on staff confidence, workplace inclusion, and ultimately, patient care.

Join us to hear how this award-winning program is scaling up allyship across the health system - enhancing psychological safety, equity, and quality across teams.
